Who we are

Laurel Stoneworks is is located in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of the south-central region of Pennsylvania.
We specialize in the original age old craft of dry laid stonework. 

Laurel Stoneworks is owned and operated by Kim and Jerry Coggin and their sons Jamie and Ian.

Kim Coggin

​Kim started working with stone shortly after relocating to Pennsylvania from the Southeast.  She fell in love with the numerous covered bridges, stone walls, furnaces, and other historical artifacts in Pennsylvania.  Kim is also an avid faux artist and muralist.  In addition to her technical training in stone, her training in the arts gives Kim a unique and profound perspective on the artistic aspects inherent in dry stone creation.

In 2024 Kim earned the Master Craftsman certificate from the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain, becoming only the fourth woman in the world to hold this distinction.

Kim currently holds a Master Craftsman Level 4 Certificate from the DSWA-GB and is a Certified Instructor

Jerry Coggin

​Jerry has been working with dry stone since 2010.  He started out assisting his wife Kim with her projects and very quickly realized how rewarding working with dry stone can be.  Jerry notes, “working with stone engages the creative and analytical parts of my brain, and it always results in great satisfaction of something built that will last generations.” 

​Jerry currently holds a Advanced Level Three Certificate from the DSWA-GB and is a Certified Instructor

Meet the boys
Meet our sons Jamie and Ian.  They assist and support with the operational aspects of the company and are instrumental in continuing design and build of the facility.  Without them none of this would be possible.

Operations Team, Jamie and Ian

​Jamie is an electrician by trade and is pursuing a degree in network administration.  In addition to assisting with building/relocating walls and materials, Jamie designed and guides all electrical installation at the training facility.

​Ian assists with our physical layout and is our machinery operator.  Ian can often be found re-arranging sections of the facility and he supervised the construction of the barn.  In his spare time he is pursuing a degree in physical therapy.
